Frederick Paul SchaeferMr. Frederick Paul Schaefer, age 82, of Marionville, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017, in his home. He was born on December 19, 1934 in Christian County, Missouri, the son of Arthur Frederick and Marie Madeline (Bluebaum) Schaefer.Frederick graduated from the Marionville High School in 1952. He was united in marriage to Barbara Lillian Richardson on August 17, 1952, and they raised their five children in Marionville area. He was employed, and retired, with the Frisco/Burlington Northern Railroad as a Radio Communication Engineer. He was also a dedicated HAM radio operator. Frederick was a member of the St. Peters Evangelical UCC in Billings, Missouri.Frederick is preceded in death by his parents, a one grandson, Paul Ray Rinker; and his parentHe is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara; his five children and their spouses, Celestia "Kim" Rinker and husband Steven of Mount Vernon, MO; Erick Schaefer and wife Doris, of Marionville, MO; Frederick Michael Schaefer and wife Sandy of Hurley, MO; Stephen Schaefer and wife Denise of Mtn. Grove, MO; and Donna Cargile and husband, Stephen of Aurora, MO. 16 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Schaefer of Dallas, TX; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.Fred enjoyed reading and learning. He was a very intelligent man who was called upon many times by his family members to help troubleshoot or fix what they had broken.Fred did not know a stranger. He was one of the kindest souls you would ever meet. Fred exemplified 1 Corinthians 13:4-7: "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." Fred WAS that good Samaritan in the Bible. Grandpa Fred was adored by all his grandchildren. He was a very generous, patient, and caring individual. One grandchild reflected, "He was slow to speak and slow to anger; full of wisdom and humility. The love and pride he had for his family was immeasurable."A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Meadors Funeral Home, Billings Chapel, 101 N.E. Pine, Billings. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in St. Peters Evangelical UCC, 303 NE Pine St., Billings. Burial will follow in St. Peters Cemetery.
