Micou, Freeman Davidson,Age 97, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2017, with family by his side. He was born on December 11, 1919 in Louisville, KY to Georgia Davidson Micou and William Thomas Micou, the youngest of four children. Freeman was a graduate of Barret Junior High and duPont Manual High School - Class of 1936 1/2. He obtained both his Bachelor of Science degree and Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Louisville, and his entire business career was spent in the paper industry. He was President of Southeastern Paper Company prior to his retirement. He married his childhood sweetheart, the former Martha Jean Short, on June 28, 1941, at Highland Baptist Church. They were married for 57 years until she preceded him in death in 1998. He proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the 97th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during
World War II engaging in conflict in Germany and Czechoslovakia. Lifelong friendships were forged in his Battery, and he delighted in attending army reunions for many years.Freeman's memberships included Crescent Hill Baptist Church, The American Legion, Louisville Masonic Lodge # 400, The Scottish Rite, Kosair Shrine Temple, University of Louisville Alumni Association, and duPont Manual High School Alumni Association. He was a former member of The Pendennis Club, The Louisville Boat Club, and The University Club.He is survived by his beloved family: his daughter, Gwen Micou O'Dea and her husband, Tim; his son, Robert Freeman Micou; his grandchildren, Tim O'Dea, Jr. and his wife, Katie; Katie Wilkinson and her husband, Scott; and Emily Holeman and her husband, Dan. In addition he is survived by seven great-grandchildren whom he adored: Harrison, Will and Annie Holeman; Clare and Kendall O'Dea; and Cooper and Charlotte Wilkinson.The family expresses deepest appreciation to his devoted caregiver, Krista Keller with Home Instead, the entire staff of Sunrise Senior Living where he resided the past year and a half, and his Hosparus caregivers.His visitation will be held at Pearson's Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane, on Thursday, February 2, from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be held in the Chapel of Crescent Hill Baptist Church, 2800 Frankfort Ave. (Birchwood Avenue Entrance) at 11:00 a.m on Friday, February 3, with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery.Memorial donations can be made to Hosparus, P.O.
