We gather here today to mourn the passing of Furmel (Frank) Poindexter, who shuffled off this mortal coil on June 4, 2024, in Rapidan, Virginia. Born on January 2, 1940, to the late Fred and Pearl Poindexter, Furmel lived a life full of laughter, love, and a whole lot of grass-cutting.
In 1965, Furmel tied the knot with his beloved wife, Sally Ellis, and together they raised a brood of six children: Carmen, Bridgette, the late Monique, Furmel Jr, Pierre, and Jamires. Their house was always bustling with activity, whether it was their children's shenanigans or Furmel's endless jokes and pranks. Nine grandchildren Kristen Ellis, Brooks Ellis, Bradley Blankenbaker, Trent Blankenbaker, Ryan Poindexter, Sydney Herien, Asani Poindexter, Alayna Poindexter, Blair Poindexter.
After a long and fulfilling career at V-Dot, Furmel finally hung up his work boots in 2007. But retirement didn't slow him down - he spent his days perfecting his lawn mowing skills, much to the chagrin of his neighbors who were left wondering if he was secretly training for a championship competition.
Though he may have left us, Furmel's memory will live on through his family, who will continue to cherish the moments spent with him, laughing until their sides hurt. As they say, the grass may still need cutting, but the world will never be the same without Furmel Poindexter.
