WATERLOO — G. Kenneth Reed, age 97, of Waterloo passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Mr. Reed was born on September 8, 1918, in Owosso, Michigan, to Leonard and Alma (Lettau) Reed. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during
World War II. He was discharged in 1945 and was a former member of the Waterloo
VFW. He married Margaret Thompson on July 23, 1950, in Windsor, Indiana. She preceded him in death on July 31, 1983. Mr. Reed was an electrician and worked for Mossburg-Hubbard Spool in Garrett for 32 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the International Union of Electrical Workers, serving for a time as a union leader. He was a very active member of the Cedar Lake Church of Christ in Waterloo. His church was very important to him, and he served as an elder and taught Sunday school for several years. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Steven and Cheryl Reed of Kennesaw, Georgia, John and Cindy Reed of Bremen, Indiana, and Mark Reed of Littleton, Colorado; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Doug Shannon of Wabash, Indiana, and Ann and Chris Owen of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren, Rachael McWhirt, Kari DeWitt, Erin Bryant, Michael Shannon, Daniel Reed, David Reed, Brian Reed, Bailey Reed, Andrew Reed, Sarah Reed, Thelma Reed, Nick Owen and Katie Owen; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret (Thompson) Reed; one brother, Keith Reed; and two sisters, Berniece Smith and Alice LaRowe. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Lake Church of Christ, 1492 C.R. 27, Waterloo. Pastor Jonathan Pennington will officiate. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St. in Waterloo.
