Gale Mullen, 64, died peacefully on February 18, 2008 at his home after several months of battling throat cancer. Gale was born on August 24, 1943, in Ellensburg to Lennie and Mary (Schnebly) Mullen. He attended Kittitas Schools and graduated in 1961. Gale then served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Gale spent most of his life driving truck. He enjoyed the diversity that trucking offered and hauled hay and cattle. He retired in 2006 and moved to North Dakota to start a salvage business with his son, Mike. He came back to Kittitas to live with his sister, Molly, when he became ill. His favorite hobby was fishing. He and his buddy, nephew Tim, spent many hours fishing secret places in the valley. One of the most loved was Coleman Creek. Gale is survived by his sister, Molly Hayes, Kittitas; son, Mike and grandchildren Alex and Delina Mullen, Langdon, North Dakota; nephew, Tim Mullen; nieces, Marsha (Hayes) Weyand, Pam (Hayes) Bailes, Pat (Hayes) Wheatley, Mary Jane (Mullen) Porter, Diane (Mullen) Graham, Kathy (Mullen) Stingley, Robin (Hayes) Newcomb and former wife and long-time friend, Violet Fesler of Munich, ND and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Patrick and Gary, grandparents Dorse and Stella (Barnhart) Schnebly. A graveside service will be at 12 pm, Saturday, February 23 at the IOOF Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 1 pm at the Kittitas Community Church.
