This obituary is administered by:
Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Garth B. Christensen, passed away peacefully Nov. 20, 2013, at his home in Fairview, Idaho. Garth fought valiantly for the past 32 months to defeat cancer with the only objective of staying alive to watch over his family. He was born on Sept. 17, 1953, in Ogden, Utah, to Leonard Junior and Mary Ruth Bybee Christensen. He married Janice Garrett on July 12, 1974, in the Logan LDS Temple. Garth was who he was, just a down-to-earth, honest, generous man that will be missed greatly. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving in various capacities alongside men and women whom he greatly admired. He loved the Savior and believed that if you put Him at the center of your life, everything else would fall into place. His life was spent in family, community and church service. Garth was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who, never one for fanfare, quietly went about doing much good in the world. His greatest joy was his family. He liked to spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He especially enjoyed taking them on the snowmobiles and four wheelers to the mountains and canyons in this area that he loved so much.He grew up on a farm, learning about the law of the harvest, perseverance and hard work at an early age, milking cows, hoeing beets, controlling weeds, watering the crops, digging post holes and building fence. He was a dedicated steward of the land and a tireless, hard worker until his body failed him. He and his wife worked together owning and operating their farm with the help of their children. Garth did what he done! He loved reading the writings of Louis L'Amour who properly researched and characterized the American West.Garth is survived by his best friend and wife of 39 years, Jan (Janice Garrett Christensen) of Fairview; his five children and their spouses, Cody and Janeal Christensen of Caliente, Nev.; Shanci Cram of Fairview; Kit and Minnie Christensen of Fairview; Cache and Amanda Christensen of South Willard, Utah; and Paige Christensen of Logan, Utah. He is also survived and dearly loved by 11 grandchildren: Marissa, Carlin, Chance, Jonas, Jazmin, Jaylen, Kathryn, Alexa, Jonathan, Lia and Logan Garth, as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law Dick and Connie Garrett of Fairview. His siblings are Cheryl (Mark) Moosman of Burley, Idaho; Scott (Syndee) Christensen of Fairview; Janeal (Al) Tremayne of Clarkston; Marilee (Kevin) Balls of Spanish Fork, Utah; Nancy (Bob) Funk of Smithfield, Utah; and his brothers-in-law Doug (Sue) Garrett of Kemmerer, Wyo.; and Sid (Jill) Garrett of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
