Gary David GoodsonAge: 59* • StauntonGary David Goodson, 59, of Churchville Ave, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.Gary was born on May 2, 1957 in Alexandria, a son of Yvonne (Sparks) Goodson and the late Irven L. Goodson.Gary was employed with Manpower as a Laborer. He was an accomplished Electric Bass player, playing with many bands but was best known for performing with "First Offense." Gary toured extensively up and down the east coast and was the opening act for Eddie Money, Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws and many others. Gary enjoyed camping, spring gobbler hunting, astronomy, grouse hunting and morel mushroom hunting. In addition to his father, Mr. Goodson was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Steven Goodson.Surviving in addition to his mother of Staunton, are two brothers, Dale Goodson and Danny Goodson and his fiancée Elizabeth Fooks all of Middlebrook; two sisters, Sandra Goodson-Marks and her husband Peter of Buckingham County and Janice Goodson and her fiancé Curtis Hite of Stuarts Draft; a special uncle, Bobby Goodson; special friends, Lewis Miller and Mike Gallegly; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins whom Gary loved very much.A Memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 in Bethel Presbyterian Church by Pastor Douglas Brandt.The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall.Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of his arrangements.Condolences may be expressed to the family online at
