This obituary is administered by:
Gary Joe HardinWeatherford, TXGary Joe Hardin, age 64, went home to be with his Lord and Savior after eight days of a strong fight due to a tragic accident, on Monday, March 20, 2017, at a Fort Worth hospital. Our family will never be the same without him, but it is better because of him.Funeral Service is planned for 2:00PM, Thursday, March 23, 2017 at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley, 5600 Mineral Wells Hwy., Weatherford.Visitation: 6:00PM to 8:00PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.Gary Joe Hardin was born on April 7, 1952 to Horace and Erika Hardin in Monahans. He graduated from McCamey High School in 1970 and moved to Abilene to attend court reporting school and work at Poco Peso. For the last 27 years, Gary worked tirelessly for UPS as a package delivery man and later as a feeder truck driver. He had a great work ethic and loved his job.In 1972, Gary met the love of his life, Linda East. They married in1975 and were blessed with 41 years of love and companionship. They lived in Abilene until they moved to Weatherford to be near their children and build the home of their dreams. The focus of his life was his family. He loved us over and above everything else in the world and didn't mind telling anyone. He was happiest when all of his children and grandchildren were together at family gatherings at the house or on the patio of our favorite Mexican food restaurant. He adored his daughter, Tiffany. From braiding her hair when she was little to rubbing her shoulders before track meets, it was evident that she was daddy's little girl. Gary Joe always arranged his schedule to be able to attend his son, Garrison's ball games and power lifting competitions, whether as an onlooker or as a coach. Nothing made him more proud than watching his children's achievements, especially Garrison's becoming a Texas State Trooper. Then, in 2014, Gary became PaPa Joe, with the birth of his first grandson, Cotton Adam Willey. In 2016, the Hardin name remained alive with the birth of Grayson Sawyer Hardin. He was recently blessed with the news that a baby girl Hardin will be joining the family in early August. Gary was not only a family man, but a true and faithful friend to so many people. If you needed him, he was there for you in body, mind and spirit.Gary Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, R L and Hazel East; and his beloved first German Shepherd, Arko.He is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughter, Tiffany Willey and her husband, Kyle, and their son, Cotton; son, Garrison Hardin and his wife, Brittany, and their son, Grayson Sawyer; his best friend and faithful fur companion, Hauzer; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Johnson and her husband, Donald. The family would like to extend our thanks to the good Samaritans at the scene of the accident, the EMT's, the trauma team in the ER and the ICU nurses and doctors who have held our hands and gave us hugs and uplifted our hearts during this difficult time. We appreciate the love and counsel from Dr. Sunil Patel, our dear friend and Tiffany's employer. We would also like to extend thanks to all of those who have reached out to us in love and prayers and through the sharing of food and time.Services are in care of White's Funeral Home, Weatherford.
