Gary Len EkissGary Len Ekiss passed away unexpectedly on January 26th, 2015. He was 64.Gary was born on November 24, 1950 in Ellensburg, WA to his parents, Gettie and Dorothy Ekiss. He graduated from Kittitas High School in 1969. While in high school he was an avid football, basketball, and baseball player. He was always proud that his basketball team went on to state. In 1986 Gary married Bette Bradshaw in Lake Tahoe. Gary worked for Superior Farms for 29 years and in 1999, Gary and Bette moved to Iowa where he was the Assistant Manager at Iowa Lamb. In 2005, they came back to Ellensburg and he worked for Ray's Meats as a Sales Manager and retired in November 2012.Gary enjoyed camping, fishing, mushroom hunting and took an occasional trip to the North Bend Casino. He enjoyed golfing trips with his special friends, Tony Wippel, Terry Rossow, Mike Delozier, George Day, and Troy McNight (the wolf pack). While in Iowa, he was on a pool and bowling league with Jerry Ruhlend, Russ Ruhlend, Denny Hulshof, and many others. Gary enjoyed going to visit his son, Gabe in Alaska where they would fish and made sure he came home with plenty of "his" shrimp.Gary is survived by his wife Bette of 29 years, his daughter and son-in-law, Jessica (Chad) Blythe of Suwanee, GA; his son, Gabriel Ekiss of Anchorage, AK; his step son, Cody Pratt of Ellensburg, WA; is step daughter Cori (Michael) Henry of Ellensburg, WA; sister Judy (Joe) Paul of Ellensburg, WA and six grandchildren, Ava and Colten Blythe, Kade and Colin Henry, Presley Pratt, and soon to be born baby Ekiss; plus numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncle, and a special friend Mark Richey. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gettie and Dorothy Ekiss and sister Linda Uhrich.Gary will be cremated at a later date. A potluck celebration of life will take place on January 31st at 2:00 p.m. at the American Legion. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gary's life.
