Gary Marrion Ray, 66, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully
on Monday evening, May 6, 2019 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA while surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held
at 11:00 am EST on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Barry Danner officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral Home in Phenix City.
Gary was born December 13, 1952 in Phenix City, AL to the late Bernard “Spud” Ray and Wilma Blue Ray. He was employed with Orchard View Heath Care in Columbus and was retired with 15 years of service. He loved music, and watching old movies, and occasionally dressed up as an Elvis impersonator entertaining and singing in some of the heath care facilities. He enjoyed cooking on the grill, and visiting the mountains with his sweetheart, Jeannette. He was a former Sunday school teacher and Superintendent at Auburn Road Assembly of God, and helps with the Sunday school at First Assembly of God where he is a member. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon “Snookie” Ray.
He is survived by his sweetheart and wife, Jeannette Williams Ray, his children, Keith Ray and wife Tina, Kevin Ray and wife Jodie, David Ray and wife Elizabeth, and Crystal Starks and husband Toey, three brothers, Bernard Ray and wife Lynn, Roger Ray and wife Karen, and Vic Ray; father and mother-in-law, David and Mae Williams, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, church family, and numerous friends.
