Wence, Gary Gary Fred Wence, age 59, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away on February 27, 2017 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Erin Leary Wence, his son, Charles Wence of Seattle, Washington, his daughter, Emily Wence, of Omaha, Nebraska, and his father, George Wence (Charlotte) of Kearney, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Wence. He was born on March 20, 1957 in Akron, Ohio. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, Littleton, Colorado, and Yorktown Heights, New York. In 1979 he graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado with a degree in Political Science, and went on to graduate from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 1983 with a juris doctor. He moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1984 and that same year married Erin Leary. The couple had two children together: Charles Wence and Emily Wence. In Omaha he became a member of the Erickson Sederstrom law firm, and later joined the law firm of McGrath North. While he lived in Omaha he was an active member of Dundee Presbyterian Church. In 2006 he moved to Scottsdale, Arizona where he joined the LaVoy Chernoff law firm. He founded the Leary & Wence firm with his wife in 2009, where he worked for eight years. He was a great family man and a loving husband and father. A memorial service is scheduled on March 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Messinger Mortuary, Scottsdale, with a reception to follow at The Lincoln at 7100 E. Lincoln Drive in Scottsdale. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gary's life.
