SIDNEY — Gary A. West, 68, of Sidney, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 11:49 p.m. at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit in Troy.

He was born on Oct. 16, 1948, in Oneida, Tennessee, the son of the late Lonnie and Pauline (Carson) West. On March 15, 1985, he married the former Kathryn Phares, who survives.

Gary is survived by one son, Allyn West, of Sidney; four siblings, Sam (Terri) West, of Piqua, Sherri (Brian) McPherson, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Bobby West, of Oneida, Tennessee, and Tim West, of Maryville, Tennessee; and three grandchildren.

Mr. West retired from Marysville Honda of America as a purchasing agent after 7 years. He also worked for 19 years at Copeland. He was a purchasing manager at the former IKEDA in Sidney for 10 years.

Gary was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling to Florida and especially loved spending time with his family. He was a past "PER" of the Sidney Elks lodge 786. Gary proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam period from 1969-1971.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave with Pastor Roderick Jones officiating.
