Gary William Morgan, 56, passed away November 22, 2011 in Bellingham, Washington from complications of emphysema. Gary was born on December 21, 1954 to Ken and Pearl Morgan and was raised in Juneau with older siblings Bruce and Kenda. He graduated from JDHS in 1973, and then moved on to complete the automotive mechanics course at Wyoming Technical Institute. He returned to Juneau in 1976 and married Cindy Lee of Douglas. Gary worked for many years as an automotive mechanic at Juneau Motors, Evergreen Ford, and the Alaska Department of Transportation. At DOT, he became a heavy equipment operator before moving to Gustavus to manage the State Airport and DOT station. After an on the job injury, he lived in Bellingham, WA and the surrounding area. Gary had a passion for life with an almost limitless energy; his hobbies included fishing, hunting, and model airplanes. He earned his private pilot's license and frequently flew around Southeast in his plane. While in Gustvaus, he built a house for his and always seemed to have a project to work on. Gary is preceded in death by his mother Pearl. Gary is survived by his sons Scott of Redmond, WA, and Kyle of Juneau, his father Ken of Mount Vernon, WA, his brother Bruce of Concrete, WA, and his sister Kenda of Sedro-Woolly, WA. Private services will be held in the spring.
