Gaylord Dennis, 79, of Oscoda passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at his home at Turning Brook in Alpena, following a courageous battle with kidney disease.Gaylord was born on Jan. 13, 1934, in Nashville, Mich., to the late Glen and Artie (nee Shull) Dennis, and served in the United States Army following the Korean War. He married the former Katherine Lundy on Sept. 25, 1954. Gaylord worked for General Motors Oldsmobile Division in Lansing and the Proving Grounds in Milford for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, the Masonic Lodge in Howell and Lions Club in Williamston.Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Kay; a son, Jim (Annette) Dennis of Oscoda; a daughter, Marjorie (James) Hamblet of South Dakota; six grandchildren, Evan Dennis, Eric Dennis, James (Arika) VonKannon, Renee (Steven) Shogren, Julie (Michael) Wilkins and Stephen (Christina) Hamblet; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Hubert Dennis. Mr. Dennis was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Courtney.Memorial visitation will take place at St. Katherine's Episcopal Church in Williamston on Friday, Sept. 13, from noon until time of memorial service at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Ron C. Byrd Sr. officiating. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.Inurnment will be at St. Katherine's Episcopal Church in Williamston.
