TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — Gaylord Quintus Hanna, 92, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016.
Gaylord was born on Feb. 27, 1924, in Rollin, Mich., the son of George and Leora Hanna. On Dec. 18, 1943, he was wed to Marjorie Hines in Hudson, Mich. Raising 3 children, Gaylord and Marjorie had a busy life. He was a machine engineer for M & S Manufacturing in Hudson, Gilbert Engineering in Tempe, Ariz., and Delo Screw Products in Delaware.
Gaylord was a very active in his community as a member of the Jaycees, American Bowling Congress, PTA President, and American Society of Tool Machine Engineers.
With all of his activities, family was always number one. Fishing and hunting with his boys, swimming at the beach and rink roller skating with the family was just a few of his cherished times. He also spent many years as a Church Youth Group counselor and coached little league. Gaylord was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Traverse City.
Gaylord is survived by his wife, Marjorie Hanna; children, Dr. Raymond (Candy) Hanna of West Bloomfield, Mich., Carole (Roger) Merillat of Empire, Mich., Dr. Lawrence (Cheryl) Hanna of Marysville, Ohio; grandchildren, Ryan Hanna, Linsey Hanna Carey, Eric Merillat, Colleen (Jay) Raymond, Travis (Deborah) Hanna, and Benjamin Hanna; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 nephews; and many other family members.
Preceding Gaylord in death are his parents, George and Leora Hanna; siblings, Sophrona Jackson, Vivian Donaldson, and Delbert Hanna; great-grandchildren, Sche Merillat and Jayson Raymond.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene in Traverse City, Michigan with visitation starting at noon. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the Salvation Army.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City, Michigan.
