Gene D. FerroJune 19, 1927 - April 7, 2013Eugene D. Ferro passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and children on Sunday, April 7, 2013.He was born on June 19, 1927 in Salt Lake City, UT to Marion and Mary Ferro. He was raised in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1945 where he excelled in football, basketball and track. After graduation he joined the US Marine Corps and later received an honorable discharge. He then furthered his education at Idaho State University.In 1949 he began his career at Mountain Bell as a PBX installer and repairman, retiring after 35 years of service. Upon retirement he started his own telephone repair business.On June 13, 1950 in Hollywood, CA, on the Bride & Groom Radio Show, he married the love of his life, Donna Edgley. A short two years later they were blessed with their first child Bette, followed by their sons Steve and Scott.Gene was an avid sports fan and enjoyed coaching his sons and many others. He could always be seen supporting his grandchildren in their sporting endeavors. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and even more just spending time with his family and friends. It gave him great pleasure to spend time at the family cabin in Island Park where he loved riding 4-wheelers and snowmobiles.He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served callings in scouting and special mutual. Gene and Donna were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 13, 2012. He is preceded in death by his father Marion, mother Mary, sister Bette, grandson Joey and son Steve. He is survived by his wife Donna, daughter Betty Doyle (Brian), son Scott (Sabrina) and daughter-in-law Patty and loving grandchildren Gina Moon (Kyle), Eric Selders (Trisha), Sunnie Simmons (Aaron), Kathy Pilgrim, Melissa and Nicole Doyle, Bo, Brook, Aaron, Jordan, and Devan Ferro along with 10 great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thur., April 11, 2013 at the 29th Ward Chapel, 1700 Kinghorn Rd. A viewing will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Wed., April 10, 2013 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Rd. and one hour prior to services on Thur. Interment will follow in the Mt.
