Gene Arthur EneboApril 21, 1945 - December 29, 2015Gene Arthur Enebo, 70 of Caldwell, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 following a brief battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Tuesday, January 5th at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, with interment following at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. Condolences may be shared at
www.dakanfuneralchapel.com.Gene was born at an Army hospital on April 21, 1945 in Spokane, Washington to Art and Susie Enebo. They moved to Portland, Oregon for a short while to be closer to Art's family, before moving to Idaho in 1950. Gene's little sister, Rhonda, was born the following year and they were both raised on a farm south of Greenleaf. Gene graduated from Caldwell High School in 1963. He served with the US Army from 1965 to 1968. His duty assignments included Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, a tour of duty in Vietnam during the
Vietnam War, and at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina before returning home in February 1968.Gene married Helen West on October 29, 1965 and they just celebrated 50 wonderful years together. Their son David was born on November 20, 1973 which completed their family.Gene worked for the City of Nampa from 1968 to 1972 and the City of Caldwell from 1977 until he retired as Assistant Engineer in 2000. After retirement, Gene and Helen were able to travel to China, Florida, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, and many trips to the Oregon Coast.Gene has been a loyal and active member of the Caldwell Lions Club since 1995, serving as President, as well as holding other offices and positions. In 2006, he was honored with the Melvin Jones Fellowship to recognize his generous contributions to the club. Gene was also very dedicated to the Meals on Wheels program and enjoyed delivering meals to many Canyon County residents.Gene is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen Enebo of Caldwell; their son and daughter-in-law, David (Lori Miller) Enebo; 4 grandchildren, Ray, Bryce, and Miranda Miller and Chris Enebo; brother-in-law, Doug Flaming; niece, Melissa (Nick) Saadi; and nephew, Grant (Rachel) Flaming.He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rhonda Sue Flaming.To honor Gene, donations may be made to Caldwell Lions Club, PO Box 236, Caldwell, ID 83606.
