ALBION — Gene Ellen (McCoy) Freeman, 91, of Albion, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at Presence Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. She was born on November 21, 1923, to the late Guy R. and Maxie E. (Beavers) McCoy. Growing up in the Churubusco area, she married James W. Freeman. They farmed near Albion, where she resided for 62 years. Surviving are children, Becky (Ray) McGuire of Churubusco, Debby (Gary) Archer of Columbia City, James R. (Deb) Freeman of Albion, Thomas R. (Kris) Freeman of Kendallville, and Melvin L. (Judy) Freeman of Fruitland Park, Florida. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Glen (Sherry) McCoy of Churubusco; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Wilbur (Kay) Freeman; and a sister-in-law Laura Shank. She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 1994. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Albion, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Bret Frymier and Pastor Brad McGuire officiating. Visitation also from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at Brazzell Funeral Home, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road.
