Huth, GeneGene Huth, age 76, of Granton, WI died Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, WI after a short illness.Gene Douglas Huth was born on February 4, 1940 in Milwaukee, WI the son of Arnold and Frances (St. John) Huth. He entered the United States Air Force on February 8, 1957 at the age of 17. After his honorable discharge on March 8, 1961 he drove gravel truck for Plautz/Pekol, worked at consolidated papers in Wisconsin Rapids and for the majority of his life worked at Schneider Trucking as a truck driver. He was united in marriage to Edna Lindner on October 7, 1961 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sherwood. He retired from Schneider's at the age of 57.Gene was the president of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sherwood, the chairman of the town of Washburn, served on the town board for 16 years, was the president of the Granton area Fire Board, served on the Neillsville Municipal Ambulance board and was a member of the Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post #73.Gene was an awesome father, grandfather and great grandfather. His family was the most important part of his life and he was very involved in their lives. He loved making wood and riding motorcycle.He is survived by four children, Pam (Kenny) Friemoth of Granton, WI, Dawn (Richard) Wendorf of Merrill, WI, Shane Huth of Granton, WI and Travis Huth of Granton, WI, nine grandchildren, Jacob (Sherry) Friemoth, Kyle (Michelle) Friemoth, Cody Friemoth, Luke (Katie) Friemoth, Lance Robinson, Douglas Kuehl, Tanner Huth, Christine (Joe) Bartel and Victoria Huth, nine great grandchildren, four siblings John (Mary) Huth of DePere, WI, Nela Stacy of Mauston, WI, Bernard (Donna) Huth of Dorchester, WI and Shari (Joe) Wolk of Thorp, WI along with numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna in 1981, his parents, a brother, Arnold "Bud" Huth and a sister-in-law, Dorothy HuthFuneral services for Gene will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2016 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pittsville, WI. Pastor Gary Markworth will officiate. Music will be provided by Mary Schwanebeck, organist. Military honors will be performed by the Neillsville Veteran's Council.
