Tesch, GeneGene M. Tesch, 70, of Wausau passed away peacefully at his home Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 under the care of Ministry Home Hospice. Gene fought a 3 year courageous battle with kidney cancer.Gene was born on March 28, 1946 in Wausau to the late Martin and Alice (Kroeplin) Tesch. He grew up in Wausau, graduating from Wausau High School in 1964 and Wausau Technical College (now known as North Central Technical College) in 1967 with a Degree in Business Administration Credit Management. He continued his education by graduating from Rutgers Graduate School of Banking, New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1978 with a Stonier Graduate School of Banking Degree. Gene married Virginia (Gin) Fehl in Wausau on June 10, 1967 and their life together lasted 49 ½ years and was blessed with two wonderful children, Tammie and Todd. Soon after they got married, Gene started his 45 year career in the finance and banking industry by moving around the State of Wisconsin. He started out by working at finance companies in Wausau, Green Bay and Shawano before starting his career in banking in 1968. He worked at various banking institutions in Madison, Fitchburg, Monroe, Ladysmith, Phillips, Woodruff and Minocqua, where he retired in 2012.Gene loved spending time fishing, with family and friends at their cottage, that he and his parents built, in Mercer, Wisconsin. He also enjoyed woodworking, remodeling their homes, as well as new building projects. Gene loved spending time with his grandchildren teaching them to fish and hunt, plus playing games, cards and Mexican Train. Gene was also an avid Green Bay Packer, Wisconsin Badger and the Milwaukee Brewer fan and also loved to follow Nascar racing.Gene is survived by his wife, Gin; a son, Todd Tesch (Deb Wermeling), Fort Atkinson, WI; a son-in-law, Chuck Davis, Menomonee Falls, WI; four grandchildren, Nathan and Aubrey Tesch and Matthew and Tyler Davis; a brother, Arlon (Barb) Tesch, Little Canada, MN; a sister, Doreen (Bill) Radloff, Mosinee, WI; his brother-in-law, Elroy Rosenwinkel, Elgin, IL and an aunt, Lucille Pfantz, Wausau, WI; and many nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Alice; a daughter, Tammie Davis; two sisters, Carol Gniot and Marlene Rosenwinkle; and a nephew, Ken Rosenwinkel.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 at Saint Andrew Lutheran Church, 3200 N. Mountain Road, Wausau, WI. Rev. Craig Swenson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the church. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, next to his parents and his daughter. Gene's family would like to extend a heartfelt "THANK YOU" to Dr. Islam and the Oncology Dept. at Marshfield Clinic, Weston Center; St. Clare's Hospital personnel and ER Dept., Ashley and Matt from Ministry Home Health Care plus Tricia and Amanda from Ministry Home Hospice for all of their supportive, loving and compassionate care of Gene during his journey.
