BREATHE….
Genel Gloria James was born on August 10, 1956, to Thomas and Adelaide James in Philadelphia, PA. She received her elementary and secondary education in the Philadelphia Public School system. She graduated with honors from Overbrook High School. Genel attended John Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa and graduated in 1978 with a B.S. in Psychology.
Genel returned to Philadelphia and worked for many years in civil service. During this time, she met and married, FranciscoEchevarria.
Genel was the proud mother of four children, Francisco, Christina, Frances and John. They were the love of her life. She was blessed with six grandchildren that she held ever so close to her heart. She loved her family and if she only had $2 to her name, she made sure everybody got a quarter.
Genel loved to travel, and once ventured to Paris which she said opened her eyes to the world. She was a sharp dresser and loved her a nice dress suit.
Genel believed in hard work something that had been instilled in her from her mother, which she turned around and taught her children.
Genel had a loving soul, but HOLD UP WAIT, IF YOU THOUGHT SHE WAS SOFT SHE DIDN’T PLAY… she told you about yourself with no care in the world and was still loved by all.
Genel departed this life on May 6, 2021, and was proceeded in death by her mother, Adelaide Louise, her father Thomas James, and her daughter Christina. Genel leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children Scotty and wife Melanie, Fee and wife Teresa, John and wife Ishamik grandchildren Jayana, Carlesio, Jahmeir, Jahliyah, Niko, and Da’nyla, her brother Anthony James, her sister, Leslie Taylor, her niece Lauren Taylor, and her ex-husband and 1st love Francisco Echevarria, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
