Geneva B. Anderson Obituary

Oct 08, 1930 - Jun 05, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
RACINE - Geneva Bernadette Anderson (nee: Ellis), 85, passed away peacefully in her home after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 5, 2016. Geneva was born on October 8, 1930 to the late Carleton F. and Lillian G. (Murray) Ellis in Gloucester. She was a member of the Gloucester High School Class of 1948 where she was an active member of the Glee Club, the Girls Drill Team, and the rifle team. On October 8, 1950, she married the love of her life, Arthur T. “Bud” Anderson, at First Baptist Church of Gloucester. Geneva worked at Art Jewelers, as an optometric assistant, and then as a medical secretary for the Cardiopulmonary department at Addison Gilbert Hospital until her retirement in 1996.  She was a lifelong active member of First Baptist Church of Gloucester, MA, and a current member of First Baptist Church of Racine, WI. She was also a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Martha Washington Chapter #21. Geneva’s hobbies included going to the movies, traveling, reading, and doing crossword puzzles, sports, and watching golf.  She had a lifetime love of music; she enjoyed singing in the church choir and with her family, and listening to Broadway, big band, and classical music. She loved sports and was a lifelong, avid fan of the Boston Bruins, cheering her team on in both victory and defeat.  But more than anything else, Geneva’s true passion was her family; her happiest times were those spent with her loving family and friends. She adored her parents, her older sisters and younger brothers, and her beloved Murray cousins - especially Barbie, who she considered her sister.  She was a devoted wife and a supportive, loving mother.  She helped raise all four of her grandchildren, attending as many concerts, plays, sports events and activities as possible. In 2013, she was blessed with her great-granddaughter, Taylor, who was the light of her life until the very end.  She moved to Mount Pleasant, WI, in 2013 and quickly embraced her new home; she even became a Green Bay Packers fan, and was especially fond of Aaron Rodgers. Geneva will be dearly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Gregg Anderle of WI; her son, A. Thelton Anderson; her grandchildren, John (Nina) Anderson, Kate (Nick) White, Michael (fiancée, Alicia Petzoldt) Anderle, and Christine (Zak Cieplik) Anderson; great-granddaughter, Taylor White; former daughter-in-law, Lois Kerr; sister-in-law, Wendy Ellis; her beloved nieces and nephews; and many other dear family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bud Anderson; her parents, Carl and Lillian Ellis; her sister and brother-in-law, Harriett and Ralph Levie; sister, Louise M. Ellis; brother and sister-in-law, Carleton and Josephine Ellis; and her youngest brother, Arnold Ellis. Memorial services for Geneva will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 6:00pm at First Baptist Church of Racine, 3117 Lathrop Ave., with her daughter, Rev. Holly Anderle, officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, Jun 29 from 5:30pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Geneva may be directed to First Baptist Church of Racine, Wisconsin, 3117 Lathrop Avenue, Racine, WI 53405; or to the . Geneva was buried next to her beloved husband and parents at Beechbrook Cemetery in Gloucester, Massachusetts. “The family would like to thank everyone who welcomed Geneva into their hearts as she made her transition to Wisconsin, especially her First Baptist Church family; and all who called, visited, sent cards, and prayed for Geneva over the past several months. It meant the world to her.” Wilson Funeral Home 1212 Lathrop Avenue 262-634-3361
