Genevieve A. Lamoureux Genevieve A. "Ginger" (Roberts) Lamoureux, age 78, of Bluffton, SC died Saturday, February 13, 2016 at her home surrounded by family. Ginger was born on September 22, 1937 in Fall River, MA, the daughter of the late Michael Edward Roberts and Genevieve Alicia (Murphy) Roberts. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Bridgewater State Teachers College. During that time, she served as Class Treasurer from her sophomore through senior year and was elected Vice President of the National Honor Society. Ginger and Roger were married on June 25, 1960 and raised five children in Plympton, MA. Ginger was a caring and loving mother, setting wonderful examples filled with wisdom and happiness. She made everyone around her feel special and had the most glorious sense of humor. She returned to Bridgewater State College where she earned her Master's degree and continued course work throughout her career. Ginger retired as a teacher from the Halifax Elementary School where she was beloved by students, parents and colleagues alike. In addition, she was a member of the building committee for the Dennett Elementary School in Plympton, MA. In retirement, Ginger and Roger spent 10 years in Stuart, FL, at the Miles Grant Country Club. They later moved to Sun City Hilton Head, SC where they spent the past 11 years. She enjoyed golf, travel, the ocean (beaches, boating and cruises), mahjong and her family; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ginger is survived by her loving husband, Roger Lamoureux; children, Joseph Lamoureux (Denise), Christine Sampson (Gordon), Robert Lamoureux (Margaret), Edward Lamoureux, and Daniel Lamoureux (Lauren); sisters, Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Daley (the late James), Barbara Ann Coristine (Thomas), and Michele Elaine Robillard (Louis); grandchildren, Jessica, Nicole, and Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Ava Rose and Lulu; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Michael E. Roberts Jr. and sister Catherine Ruth Malinowski (the late Casimir). A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. Anthony's Chapel, 1 Charles Street, Hardeeville, SC 29927. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Following the service, there will be a memorial gathering from 1:00-4:00pm at Sun City's Landings Lodge at Riverbend, 40 Tide Watch Dr., Bluffton, SC 29909 At a later date, Ginger will be interred at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Fall River, MA, followed by a memorial gathering to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Genevieve A. Lamoureux.
