Henry, Genevieve Cecelia WalkerGenevieve Cecelia Walker Henry, loving mother and longtime educator, passed away peacefully in Liverpool, NY on Thursday, August 10, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 8, 1921 in Oswego, NY.Genevieve and her beloved husband of 67 years, Donald, were longtime residents and teachers in Ithaca, NY. Her career included 23 years as an educator in the Ithaca City School District, first as an elementary classroom teacher and later creating the position of Learning Center Specialist at Enfield and South Hill Elementary Schools.Gen graduated in 1942 from the State Normal School, Oswego, NY, (Oswego State Teachers College). She was an active member of the first four year graduating class, serving as president of the Teachers' Sorority, Inter-sorority council President, and Drama Club member.Gen loved her family, dancing with Don and lived by the Golden Rule.She is survived by her five children; Donald Jr. of Ithaca, NY, Michael of Las Vegas, NV, Richard of Tully, NY, Jack of Winter Springs Fla., Janine Henry Sicchio of Pennellville, NY, sister Betty Walker Parsons of Bradenton, Fla., 16 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by an infant daughter Mary Teresa in 1948, her brother Robert Walker, and husband Donald F. Henry in 2011. Gen will be celebrated in life at a gathering of friends and family at the Boat Yard Grill, Ithaca, NY, Thursday 1-3pm Aug. 17, 2017.
