Genevieve (Rosati) Valerio, 95, of Bristol, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was the loving wife to the late Daniel D. "Coach" Valerio, who predeceased her on October 5th of this year. They shared 74 plus years of love and happiness together. Genevieve was born on January 19, 1921 in Farmington, the daughter of the late Pietro and Concetta (Esperanza) Rosati. She was the Credit Manger at W.T. Grant Co. in Bristol until their closing and then worked at Superior Electric in the payroll department until her retirement. She was a founding volunteer "Aunt" for the annual Eastern Regional Little League Tournament, an avid bowler and a volunteer at Bristol hospital. She enjoyed being a part of her husband's coaching career, helping wherever she could. Genevieve enjoyed music and dancing, she loved to sing and play the organ. Most of all the thing she loved most was taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves her daughter, Diana "Dee" Valerio-Matyka and her husband Paul and son Daniel P. Valerio, all of Bristol; grandchildren Kristin Wojenski and her husband Steven, Michael Valerio and his wife Amy, Cory Valerio, Michael Valerio-Smith, Jason Valerio and his wife Jamie, Heather Valerio and Erik Matyka; great grandchildren Molly Wojenski, Colby Wojenski, Maximilian Valerio, Mason Valerio, Daniella Valerio, Alexis Valerio, Gage Valerio and Marc Garcia Jr.; sister Juliette Catucci, of Plainville; brother Peter Rosato, of Plantsville; and several nieces and nephews. Gen is predeceased by her siblings Ambrose Rosati, Josephine Maietta, John Rosati, Romeo Rosati, Louise Colapinto, and Mal Rosati. Genevieve's funeral will begin Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville/Bristol and will proceed to St. Anthony Church, 111 School St., Bristol for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Committal service and interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
