YORKTOWN, VA - George Arthur Zink, 85, of Yorktown, Virginia passed away on Tuesday November 29, 2016. George was born on May 2, 1931 in St. Anthony, Idaho. George honorably served 27 years in the
United States Navy and retired in 1987 as a Lieutenant Commander in the Medical Service Corps. Upon retiring he acted as Budget Manager for the College of William and Mary for 17 years. Growing up in West Yellowstone, Montana George was an avid outdoorsman and an Olympic qualified downhill skier. He later developed a love for tennis, both playing and teaching at Back Creek Park in York County. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Laverdiere Zink of 57 years and their four children, Michael Zink and his wife Nancy, Suzanne Foster and her husband Scott, Peter Zink and Maria Hunter, Julie DeCoursey and her husband Joe, his nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and his favorite lap buddy Brady. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 2nd at 10AM at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Yorktown, Virginia by Father Mike Joly. Family will receive friends immediately following the mass. George was a member of St. Joan of Arc Parish for over 35 years. Memorials may be made to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church Building Fund, 9041 George Washington Memorial Hwy, Yorktown, VA 23692.
