A life well lived...

Gregory Patterson, 31, of Fort McMurray, Alberta, passed on August 01, 2022 after losing a long battle with addiction. If anyone thinks that it can't happen to them, read on.

George was a graduate of Father Mercredi High School, where he excelled in academics and most notably sports. Beginning at a young age, he was extremely active and competitive in everything that he did, from Soccer to Baseball and later boxing. He was a four-time letter winner in football and wrestling at Wyoming Valley West. In football, George was named "the bear", and team MVP in 2008. In boxing he was District 2 champion in 2009.

For those that knew George, he had a smile that could light up a room, and a laugh that was contagious. He was a loyal son, brother and friend. He had a thirst for life and experiencing all that it had to offer. His addiction began shortly after his high school career, and he did attempt to overcome this battle.

George is survived by his parents, George Edward Simms Jr. and Lucinda Renee Palmer Simms; sister, Brittany Nichole Simms, Blakely; brother, Derrick Michael Simms, Luzerne; grandparents, Joe and Edna Jones, Tampa, Fla.; and grandmother, Rita Simm.
