Feb 27, 1942 - Jan 05, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
George C. Parker, age 75, passed away in Tallahassee on June 5, 2017, at Big Bend Hospice. He was a resident of Cody, Wyoming and became ill in Tallahassee while visiting his family friends and never made it back to his beloved Wyoming. George was born on February 27, 1942, the first child of the late Jess and Dot Parker. He was raised in Tallahassee and was a 1961 graduate of Leon High School. From a very early age he loved being outdoors and exploring. He was a residential contractor in Tallahassee for over a decade and in 1990, after mortgage interest rates went to 18%, he decided to leave the hectic pace of the building construction industry and pursue his life-long dream of going west to explore every bit of nature's bounty that the weather and his body would allow him to do. He lived and explored Estes Park and Glenwood Springs Colorado, the canyon lands in southern Utah, the San Juan Islands in Washington, and the Shasta Mountains in northern California. He visited Cody, Wyoming a decade ago, fell in love with the people of Cody, as well as the Bear Tooth Mountains to the west, and the Big Horn Mountains to the east. He built his last home there and lived out his every dream. George never tired of discovering new places to explore.George was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Charlie Parker in 1995 and his canine exploring companions, Dillion and Charlie. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Owens; his nephew, Robb Parker; his nephew and niece, Jesse Parker and Erin Parker, and their mother, Janet Parker; his former wife, Virginia Seymour; and his current canine adventurer, Black Bart. At George's request, "Bart Man" is on his way back to Cody to continue the wonderful, adventurous life George gave him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 3-Dog Rescue (a non-profit organization), 228 Spirit Mountain Drive, Cody, Wyoming, 82414 or Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, Florida, 32308.Viewing will be from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, June 12, at Culley's Funeral Home on Riggins Road. Graveside services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 13, in Roseland Cemetery followed by visitation with family and friends at Culley's Meadow Wood Funeral Home on Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida.
