George Charles DonnellyGeorge Charles Donnelly 77, of Elk Point died Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 pm Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Point with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday with a wake service at 7p.m, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Kober Funeral Home in Elk Point. Condolences may be sent online to www.koberfuneralhome.com.George was born on Feb. 19, 1940, in Elk Point, South Dakota, the son of George and Aldea (Benjamin) Donnelly. He graduated from Elk Point High School with the class of 1959. He married Diane (Kopal) Donnelly on January 7, 1963. He farmed in rural Elk Point and was a lifelong resident.He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a lifelong member of the Elk Point Country Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, bowler, and horse trainer. He especially enjoyed these activities with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, two sons, Chuck (Lori) Donnelly, Cory (Jaimie) Donnelly all of Elk Point and one daughter Kim (Rick) Rasmussen of Sioux City, Iowa. Eleven grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. His three sisters, Ruth Bucholz of Denver, CO, Dory (John) Tschantz of Sun City West, AZ. And Hellen (Richard) Dirks of Akron, Iowa. many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Lawrence, Jack and Joe Donnelly, one sister Darlene Maloney, and an infant grandson Cooper George Donnelly.
