George Cronin, 80, went to eternal rest in heaven on January 2, 2017.A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he was born on December 28, 1936 to Charles and Irene Cronin of Staten Island NY, and was the youngest of 10 children.George was a 1955 graduate of Collingswood High School, Collingswood NJ, and graduated UTEP 1982. George married his beloved Nancy Cardin on St. Patrick's Day, 1979 in Chicago Illinois.George retired from the army after 24 years of service as LTC. He received one of the highest Army honors, non-war time, Legion of Merit, and the Bronze Starr among many other honors. Beginning in 1990 he taught school on the Mescalero Apache reservation for 16 years touching many lives. He was also an active, long time member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church.George is survived by his loving wife Nancy of 38 years, 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and twin great grandsons.Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017, at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 113 La Luna Place, Rio Communities, NM. Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery at a future date.Relatives and friends are welcome at St. Philip's for the service of Holy Communion and the following reception. The meal will be provided, but donations of desserts would be appreciated.
