George Danas Jr.MANSFIELD: George Danas Jr., age 80, lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Kingston of Ashland. He was born on November 28, 1936 in Mansfield to the late George Danas Sr. and Angeline (Zivkov) Danas. George graduated from Mansfield Senior High School and went on to attend The Ohio State University where he was a part of the ROTC. He returned to the Mansfield area and worked for Hartman Electric and Design Metal Products. George then opened his own business, Rybolt Production Products. He was an avid train collector and belonged to Train Collectors Association. He was a longtime member of Main St. United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees. He was also a member of the Elks BPOE #56 where he was a previous Exalted Ruler. He enjoyed golf and most of all, spending time with his family, including their annual trips to Hilton Head Island. He survived by his wife, Marilyn (Noser) Danas; children, George Allen (Kelly) Danas, Cindy (Mike) Dever, Vicki (Phil) Wettrich, Kim (Dave) Speck; grandchildren, Grace, Kortney and Nik Danas, Bart and Bret Matthews, John and Virginia Speck; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Peterson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann Danas; and brother, Paul Danas.The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Main Street United Methodist Church, 230 S. Main St., Mansfield. Rev. Allen E. Rose, Pastor DeWayne Smith and Dr. Blake Wagner will conduct the service. Private burial will be held at a later date in Oakland Cemetery, Shelby, Ohio.Memorial contributions may be made to Main St. United Methodist Church or Hospice of North Central Ohio.
