We are horribly saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Marine George Elbert Garret Jr. passed away on June 1st 2022 after an unexpected accident, at the age of 62. We are still gathering information and will keep everyone updated when more information is available regarding these events. George was a decorated veteran who served as Marine in Korea & Okinawa.
George was predeceased by his parents, George E. Garrett Sr. and Elaine Garrett He is survived by his two sons Joshua David Garrett & Gordon Johnathan Garrett and his longtime girlfriend and partner Kathy Hopkins. Early in life, our George learned the importance of hard work and he instilled that same work ethic in his children and was seen by everyone he met.
George was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give back to his community. His sons meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. George truly believed in community, service to that community, and connecting to others through time well spent. He believed our world could be improved if everyone simply dedicated a little bit of their time towards helping each other out.
The family has chosen to hold a small intimate gathering for his funeral. For extended friends, family and those he called his brothers and sisters, a military memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday June 25th at 1:00pm located at Bob Stump Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center 500 US HWY 89 North Prescott, AZ 86313 Chaple.
In lieu of flowers, we are requesting donations be made to any of the organizations George volunteered for.
