GEORGE ELWIN REED George Elwin Reed, 74, a Retired Naval First Class Petty Officer and descendant of the pioneering Reed/Tripp families, passed away on October 10, 2016 at San Gorgonio Memorial. George was born on February 1, 1942 in Hemet and was raised in San Jacinto, CA. He graduated from San Jacinto High in 1960, was a softball umpire, enjoyed officiating high school volleyball, and had a deep passion for the Lions Club and their outreach programs. He made a very positive mark on projects such as Diabetes Awareness, Eyeglass Collection, California Lions Friends in Sight, Lions Pull-Tab Challenge and Lions KidSight USA. His devotion and tireless efforts to his Lions volunteering are unmatched, and he will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his companion, Doris Placencia; children Timothy (Darcy Dru), Abidjan, Ivory Coast; Thomas, Washington, DC; Steve (Marcia), Vail, AZ and Cheryl Wykes, Round Rock, TX; three brothers, Everett, Albert and Kenneth (Georgia) with seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his father Albert "Zeke" Reed and mother Dexa Reed Fuller. A memorial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 30 at
VFW Post 2266, 1891 S. Santa Fe Ave., San Jacinto. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in George's name to California Lions Friends in Sight, Lions KidSight USA or Diabetes Awareness c/o San Jacinto Lions Club, P.O. Box 755, San Jacinto, CA 92581.
