Madden, George F.George F. Madden, age 92, of Corning, NY died Friday, April 14, 2017 at Absolut Care at Three Rivers in Painted Post. George was born on December 15, 1924 in Towanda, PA to Jeremiah (Jerry) and Ernestine (Biles) Madden. He was a graduate of Towanda High School then served in the Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He married Mary Jane Hoffman on April 15, 1950 in Towanda and was predeceased by her on January 11, 2004. George was a machinist for Ingersoll-Rand for 44 years and retired in 1986. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, camping, spending time with his friends, but most of all following his children and grandchildren to their sporting events and coaching little league. George had been the president of Corning National Little League, was Past Commander of the Corning American Legion, a member of the Corning VFW, and a communicant of All Saints Parish. He is survived by three daughters: Julie Wheaton, Margie Ruocco and Molly (David) Shaddock all of Corning, NY, and five sons: Mike (Sheila) Madden, Tom (Pina) Madden of Beaver Dams, NY, Joe (Mary) Madden, Daniel (Shelly) Madden and Patrick (Michelle) Madden of Georgetown, TX; grandchildren, Stacee, Andy and Jamie Madden, Matt and Katie Madden, Amy White and Kristen Schoonover, Buddy, Rhiannon, David, and Jerome Madden, Chris Madden, Amanda, Meghan and Danny Madden, Karen, Jennifer and Sara Jo Shaddock, and Stephanie and Jacqueline Madden; 21 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Kate Snell and Joyce Hoffman; brothers-in-law, John Hoffman and Henry (Glenna) Hoffman. George was predeceased by his children, Jerome, Catherine, and Mary Madden; his sister Charlotte Gates. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 18th from 4 - 7 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30 AM on Wednesday, April 19th at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 222 Dodge Avenue in Corning. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Towanda, PA.
