LAURINBURG — George Franklin "Dink" Deaton, 63, passed away on Feb. 23, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Living Water Church of God officiated by the Rev. Steve Adams. Burial will follow the service in Scotland Cemetery.

George was born on Feb. 21, 1951 in Scotland County, son of the late John Henry Deaton and Annie Huckabee Deaton. He worked as a cutting machine operator with LOF Glass/ Pilkington, Inc. retiring after many years of service. Dink served as a longtime member of the Living Water Church of God. He also enjoyed being a member of the Growing Friendship Club. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and he truly loved caring for his animals.

Preceding him in death are his sisters Ruby Kirkley, Louise Scott, Betty Early, and Katherine Walters and brother Robert Deaton.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years Cindy Sessoms Deaton of the home, sons Anthony "Tony" Paul Deaton and wife Shanna Ann of McColl, S.C., Petty Officer 1st Class Patrick "Rick " Wade Deaton and wife RubiLynn of Hampton, Va., stepchildren Leesa Yates of Sunset Beach and Ralph Yates, Jr. of Rockingham, brothers Charles Deaton and wife Olivia of Lufkin, Texas, John Deaton, Jr. and wife Patty of Rocky Mount, James Deaton and wife Kay of Laurinburg, sisters Ann D. Chavis and husband Carson of Wake Forest and Linda Underwood of Laurinburg, two grandchildren: Logan Reilly Deaton and Mitchell "Raylan" Deaton, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.

The family requests that memorial gifts in his memory be made to the , Scotland County Habitat for Humanity or the Living Word Church of God.
