KECK, George Frederick Age 80, passed away in Petaluma, CA on October 23, 2015. Born to Clemens and Virginia in Los Angeles California on April 13, 1935.
During his younger years the family moved to San Francisco where he attended school and later enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served our nation proudly during the Korean War. Upon his return to San Francisco, he met and married Nina Holman in 1956. They moved to Petaluma to raise their family. George worked for twenty years at Golden State Transit as a supervising mechanic and retired early to enjoy life.
George was a man of many interests, and during his long life he enjoyed motorcycling, boating, waterskiing, jet skiing, camping, playing golf and cards. Touring with Nina and pets to destinations near and far in their motorhome to visit and share time with great friends was a passion. George was a man of many talents, who was mechanically gifted and could fix almost anything. He took up working with wood later in life, a pursuit he enjoyed a great deal. George was an active member of Sirs 100, Elks and Moose lodges. Following his retirement, he and Nina gladly worked ten years with the Christmas Cheers program helping spread the holiday spirit to children in our community.
George is survived by his loving wife, Nina (having just celebrated their 59th anniversary); son, Dr. Blair Keck; daughter, Kathy Barrena (John); granddaughter, Tarah Sussman (Scott); great- grandchildren, Christian and Greyson; nephew, Jim Coleman (Karen); and grandniece, Sierra. We would like to express our gratitude to Hospice (Jan, his nurse) and Emosi for their tender and compassionate care in making Dad’s last couple of weeks comfortable and painless.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers, the family has asked to make donations to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St, Petaluma, CA 94952 or any charity of your choice in his remembrance.
You can to the family or in memory of George Keck.
