George G. Klemp, 81, of Wheatfield, passed away Jan. 1, 2014. George was born on May 20, 1932, in DeMotte, to Martin and Rose (Hamstra) Klemp, both deceased.On July 8, 1953, he married the love of his life Nancy (Knynsberg) who survives. Together, they were married for 60 loving years. From that union, they raised six children. George was a life long resident of rural Wheatfield. He was a farmer and retired from the Indiana State Highway Department after 22 years of employment. George was a member of the First Reformed Church of DeMotte and took great pride in being the caretaker of the Holland Cemetery for many years. George was his happiest being outside on the farm and being "Dad" and "Grandpa" to his family.George is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Klemp; children - Calvin (Sue) Klemp, Larry (Sharon) Klemp, Luann Evans, Dave Klemp, Robert (Deb) Klemp and Phil (Marianne) Klemp; 15 grandchildren, Alicia Moody, Aaron (Cheryl) Klemp, Amanda (Justin) Zippel and Alan Klemp; Todd (Nicole) Klemp and Jeff Klemp; Shannon (Dallas) Wireman, Jennie (Aaron) Aloia, Prudance and Eric Evans; Andy (Veronica) Klemp and Kevin Klemp; Jessie, Hannah and Abby Klemp; 10 great-grandchildren, Reagan Moody, Quinton Miller, Eli, Caleb, Garret Klemp; Grant Klemp; Ashton and Makayla Wireman, Wyatt Aloia and Jasmine Brown; sisters, Alice Kamminga and Carolyn (Wayne) VanVuren; sister in law - Kathy (Gene) Zylstra; In-laws - Ted and Lois Johnson; Harold and Marilyn Knynsberg and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Rose (Hamstra) Klemp; brother, Gilbert Klemp; sister, Alberta Roorda; daughter-in-law, Susan and granddaughter Katherine.Friends called on Sunday, Jan. 5, from 2-8 p.m. at Jackson Funeral Service, DeMotte. Services were held on Monday, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m., at the First Reformed Church, DeMotte, with Pastor John Huff officiating. Interment followed at the Holland Cemetery, DeMotte.Memorials may be made to the American Bible Society or the Bible League.
