FLOYD George Henry Floyd, Jr. passed away peacefully on December 3, 2016. George was born on July 16, 1926. A life-long resident of Jacksonville, he was the last charter member of Glynlea Grace United Methodist Church.Following his graduation from Andrew Jackson High School, George served two years in the Army Air Forces and was a
World War II veteran. After a honorable discharge, his places of employment included Skinner's Dairy, Schlitz Brewery and Weedon Engineering. He also spent four years in Vietnam employed by BB McCormick and later Vinnell Corporation. George retired from North Florida Shipyards in 1991 after 23 years.George was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Charlotte Phillips Floyd. He is survived by his loving and devoted sons George H. Floyd III (Fran and Stacy Kevin Floyd (Patti) and his sister, Carolyn Murrer. George was Papoo to his four grandchildren Michelle Dailey, George Bubba Floyd IV, Chelsey Southworth and Cortney Floyd and his five great grandchildren Lily, Margot, Savannah, George and Olivia. He also leaves behind his faithful cat Oscar. We will miss his stories about the good old days. George would tell us, I have had a good life and can't complain. He was loved by all that met him and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 7 from 6 to 8 PM at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road. Graveside service will be held Thursday, December 8 at 11:00 AM at Arlington Park Cemetery.
