RACINE - George J. Hubmann, 84, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints. George was born on April 25, 1932, to Hans and Margaret (nee: Bauer) Hubmann, emigrated from Germany in 1928. George grew up in Racine and graduated from Washington Park High School, Class of 1950. George began a 41 year career at Racine Hydraulics in 1951, as a draftsman, later became the Industrial Valve Designer, and Chief Draftsman and Administrative Assistant at R & D. He transferred into the Purchasing Department as a buyer and became the Manager of the Department. After the company was acquired by Rex Chainbelt, George was transferred into manufacturing, becoming Manager of Manufacturing Operations. After the division was sold to Dana, George returned to become Manager of Purchasing and Traffic. After the division was sold to Bosch of Germany, his parents homeland, he retired in 1992. George married the love of his life, Delores Prochnow, on June 14, 1958, at Atonement Lutheran Church. Both Delores and George were very active at Atonement. He was a Sunday School Superintendent, manager of the church softball team, served on the church council for four years and delivered Meals on Wheels for more than 25 years. George was a follower of sports, mainly the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin sport teams. He was an avid golfer, especially with the Old Farts Group at Ives. He was also very active with the reunion committee of the Washington Park High School, class of 1950. George is survived by his wife of 58 years, Delores, son Curtis (Barbara) Hubmann, daughter, Peggy (Jeffrey) Robinson; grandchildren, Martin and Julia Hubmann and Kyle and Holly Robinson. Sisters-in-law, Betty Langer, Ruth Bennett, Alice Terzich and Carol (Jim) Larkin. He is further survived by many cousins in western United States and in Germany, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, father- in-law and mother- in-law, Adolph and Clara Prochnow, his stepmother, Nellie Hubmann, step-sisters, Lillian Thomsen and Barbara Jareky, brothers-in-law, Francis Langer, Harley Bennett, George Thomsen, Eugene Jareky and Richard Terzich, special cousin, William Bauer, and his very special friend, Dick Heinicka. Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 11 am with Rev. Dr. Warren Williams officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10 am until service time. George will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at West Lawn Memorial Park.
