GEORGE LANGDON CASON

Jan. 8, 1918 - Sept. 30, 2010

George Langdon Cason, 92, was born on January 8, 1918 in Columbia, MO to Frances Sinclair Cason and George Langdon Cason Sr. He was the third of four boys. The family raised livestock on a farm 5 miles east of Columbia, Missouri. George attended University of Missouri and graduated in 1939 with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. Following his graduation he went to work for U.S. Department of Agriculture in southwest Missouri. It was obvious to the country in mid-1940 that the country was going to war soon. Like many other young men of his generation he enlisted in the summer of 1941 in the Army Air Corp where he was trained to be a weather forecaster. He spent the majority of the war at an Army Air Corp base in England as a weatherman. He was discharged for the Army Air Corp in September of 1945. He went back to work with the Deparment of Agriculture in Missouri upon his return from England. He moved to El Centro in March 1947 to take a job with California Central Fiber, a division of Olin Matheson. He married Rosalie La Brucherie Hauser, a native of El Centro in August 1953. They raised 5 children in El Centro. His wife, Rosalie Cason, passed away in August 2000. He is survived by 4 children: David Cason (El Centro), Tessa Cason (San Diego), Greg Cason (El Centro), and Don Cason (Huntington Beach); 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. George enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and reading. He was a member of the Elks, Moose Lodge, American Legion, Mason-Scottish Rite, and Imperial Valley Historical Museum. He believed he lived in the best place on earth, El Centro, where he had many friends. Services will be held Thursday, October 7 at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 768 Holt in El Centro. Flowers will be accepted at the church or donations may be made to the Imperial Valley Historical Museum.
