RACINE - George Miller Jacobsen, 91, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 26, 2015. He was a lifelong resident of Racine born on September 30, 1924, the son of the late James M. and Dorothy D. (nee: O'Dell) Jacobsen. George grew up hunting, fishing and also raised Blue Bar pigeons. He was a graduate of Washington Park High School. George Proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War, retiring with a rank of MEG2. George had been with the Racine Fire Department for twelve years before starting his career with Twin Disc, where he worked in the tool crib until his retirement in 1989. On April 4, 1952 George was united marriage to Margaret Prott in Racine. He was a member of Bethania Lutheran Church for more than 40 years, the American Legion Post 310 and the 20 Year Club at Twin Disc. George is survived by his children, Linda (Gil) Spaulding of Racine and Floyd (Cathy) Pavlovich of Perris, CA, nine grandkids and nine great grandkids; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Peterson, Delores Bulmann, Mary Jane Gerber and Barbara Martell. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Margaret, who he missed deeply on August 30, 2015, brother, James O. Jacobsen, sister, Doris Liegler, sister-in-law, Jeannine Jacobsen and brothers-in-law, Gilbert Peterson, Walter, Bulmann and Daniel Martell. Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Heather Bumstead officiating. George will be laid to rest with full military honors next to Margaret at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. A heartfelt thank you to Wheaton Franciscan Hospice, Dr. Papp and their staff for all the loving and compassionate care they gave to George.
