George "Bob" Robert McDermand Sr. George "Bob" Robert McDermand Sr. was called home to the Lord, peacefully in his sleep at home while under the comforting care of Hospice Services of Lake County and surrounded by his loving family, Joanne, Joseph and Cheryl, on November 15, 2016, at the age of 88. Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joanne; son, Joseph (Cheryl) McDermand; granddaughter, Sheena McDermand (Ian) Toledo; grandchildren, Hayden and Noah Toledo and two additional grandchildren; also by his estranged children, Bobby McDermand and Annie McDermand. Bob was born on September 22, 1928, in Tiff, MO, to Robert W. and Mary J. McDermand (Foust) of Kansas. Formerly from Sonoma County, he and his wife moved here to Lake County 34 years ago. After a brief stint in the Navy, he became a "damn good plumber" for the Geo Thermal Plants, which he retired from after 30 dedicated years and settled into retirement life at his home in Hidden Valley Lake. He stayed active with various home improvement projects, fishing, and was passionate about gardening. He was a devoted father, grandfather and a deeply beloved husband. A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday November 28, at Jones and Lewis Clear Lake Memorial Chapel in Lower Lake, CA, with a reception to follow. The family will have him laid to rest at Middletown Cemetery in a private ceremony. Father James McSweeney will officiate the ceremonies. Condolences can be sent to
