George D. McKean II "Coach" passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on October 23, 2016, at the age of 69, after a long battle with cancer that he fought with grace and dignity. He was a devoted husband, father, Pop, Coach, and friend. George was born on October 12, 1947, to George and Myrtle McKean of Riverdale, CA, where he grew up. George was an alumni of California State University, Fresno, and upon graduation, he served in the United States Coast Guard. He was a teacher and coach at Kingsburg High School for 38 years. In that time, he touched the lives of so many young students who will forever remember him. He was the Varsity Boys Basketball coach for 21 years where he coached many victories and was a steady force in the Central Sequoia League. He also coached tennis and led teams all the way to become the Valley Champs. He was a sports enthusiast and was a dedicated fan to the San Francisco 49ers and Giants. George was an avid golfer and a member at Kings River Golf and Country Club. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Linda McKean of Kingsburg, CA; and their children, Kristie McKean of Fresno, CA, Traci Hansen and her husband Dan of Ripon, CA, and George D. McKean III of Kingsburg, CA. He also leaves behind his precious grandchildren, Julia and Justin Hansen who truly loved their Pop; two sisters, Carol Copley and her husband Ron, and Debbie Elia and her husband Craig; and his brother, Mark McKean and his wife Megan. Visitation will be held and Boice Funeral Home on Friday, October 28, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Laton, CA on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. immediately followed by a Celebration of George's Life held at Kings River Golf and Country Club at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to Stanford Cancer Research Center, Kingsburg Cancer Volunteers; or Nancy Hinds Hospice.
