OBRADOVICH - George, passed away peacefully at his home in Wading River on the morning of December 4th, 2016 at the age of 82. Mr. Obradovich was born on July 5th, 1934 in Clairton, Pennsylvania, as the youngest son of Milan and Martha Obradovich. His great skills as a football player at Clairton High School earned him a football scholarship at
Penn State University where he graduated with a teaching degree. He served in the
Army for two years and then the Reserves. He married his love Laura, on April 29, 1961. They raised two children, Denise and David. George later enjoyed a successful career as a dedicated science teacher and coach at Brentwood Schools for over 30 years where he was widely known and loved as a father figure as well as a mentor. George was a kind and compassionate man who is fondly remembered by the many students whose lives he touched with his passion for science and sports contributing greatly to the community. After retirement, George officiated several sports, mostly track and field, for school districts across most of Long Island. Many students still remember him as Mr. O, teaching ecology in throughout local parks and arboretums through the years, and later substitute teaching locally for many years. He had a passion for folk singing and guitar playing, skiing, camping, and reading physics and astronomy. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren watching them play the sports he enjoyed as a young man. He is survived by his wife: Laura, children: Denise and David, grandchildren: Kristen, Dana, and Victoria, and great grandson: William. Services to be held on Wednesday, December 7, at Tuthill Funeral Home in Wading River. Family will receive friends between 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Peconic Bay Medical Center Pegasus House Palliative Care Program.
