George ThomasPoughkeepsie - George Thomas passed away suddenly on September 24, 2017. He was born on February 16, 1972 in Sharon, CT to George and Orpha (McGuinness) Thomas. George married his high school sweetheart and greatest love, Dawn Burkhardt, on July 2, 1994 in Millbrook, NY. George was a 1990 graduate of Webutuck High School. He entered the U.S. Army in July of 1990 and served as a Medical Specialist. George went on to become a paramedic and served his community for over 20 years.George is survived by his loving wife, dawn and their four children, Austin, Hailey, Connor and Logan, who he adored. He is also survived by his brother, Scott Thomas of Dover Plains, NY. George was predeceased by his parents.Besides his family and friends, George had two passions in life: helping and teaching people through his lifelong work in EMS and his time spent at his dojo home, Traditional Okinawan Karate of Pleasant Valley, where he was a student and an Assistant Instructor. George's memory and legacy will forever be engraved in the hearts and minds of those who knew him. Services will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the American Legion (55 Overlook Road, Poughkeepsie, NY). Visitation will be from 1pm-3pm and a Memorial Service (officiated by Rev. William F.
