Jacobson, George WilliamMadison—George William Jacobson, age 90, of Madison passed away suddenly on Mon., Dec. 19, 2016, at Girlie's Manor in Cross Plains. He was born on July 10, 1926, in Mohawk, Michigan, the son of J. Arthur and Mary (Heikkinen) Jacobson. George married Joyce Fields on July 24, 1954 in Milwaukee. George was a devoted husband of 60 years and loving Dad and Grandpa. He was a man of few words and a dry wit. George always had "two towsand jobs to do". He enjoyed camping, tinkering, Lawrence Welk and telling stories of his U.P. childhood. George served in the
U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. George retired from A.O. Smith after 30 years. In retirement, he worked at Filz-Lebreck Plumbing and Heating in Oconto.George is survived by his daughter, Diane (Tim) Hughes of Fitchburg; grandchildren Nathaniel of Olympia, Wash., and Erika of Madison; and a sister, Norma Stipe of Houghton, Mich.He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; son, Roger; and a brother, Gordon.Memorial services will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5701 Raymond Rd., Madison, WI, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016. Burial will be at a later date.
