GERALD 'JERRY' ABBOTT, 95 MCCONNELL - Gerald "Jerry" Abbott, 95, of McConnell, IL, died Friday, July 26, 2013, in his home. He was born on September 22, 1917, in Sterling, IL., the son of Robert and Ellen (Timmons) Abbott. Jerry worked for Burgess Cellulose, then later for 3M retiring in 1979. He was a WWII Veteran. He served in the Army 148th Infantry Combat Battalion. Jerry's father passed away when he was one year old. He was raised by William Huisenga and his mother, Ellen. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his daughter, Patricia (Roger) Thruman of McConnell, IL; three grandchildren, Lance Thruman, Judd (Misty) Thruman and Michelle (Mickey) Klemm; four great-grandchildren, Kayla, Brittany, Abbott and Emmory. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Graveside services for family and friends will be Tuesday, 3 p.m. at Silent Hill Cemetery in McConnell.
