Gerald Bentler, 84Waite Park, MNClearwater, MNMay 6, 1933 - Nov. 4, 2017Gerald "Grandpa Jerry" Bentler, of Waite Park, MN, formerly of Clearwater, MN passed away peacefully on November 4, 2017 surrounded by his family and close friends. Mass of Christian burial will be at Saint Andrew's Catholic Church, Elk River on Tuesday November 14 at 12:30 PM. Visitation will be November 13 from 5-8 PM with a prayer vigil at 7 PM at Dares Funeral Service in Elk River. A private family interment will take place in Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery, Fort Ripley, MN.Jerry was born on May 6, 1933 in Randall, MN to Merle and William Bentler. He attended Tech High School in St. Cloud, MN until enlisting in the Air Force where he served our country during the Korean War. On March 7, 1970 he married Yvonne Zwilling, whom he dearly loved. Jerry's entrepreneurial spirit was reflected through his many diverse business endeavors that spanned over many decades. Jerry had a heart of gold and love for children that was clearly visible during his years as a school bus driver for the Annandale School District and later in life as a Foster Grandparent at Saint Andrew's Catholic School, Elk River. Of all his work, being with the children as a foster grandparent was his most fulfilling job and he loved each student as his own. Jerry lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed time spent with family and friends along with his canine companion, Elvis. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Yvonne; son, Troy (Donna) Bentler; daughters Tammy (Brian) Knutson, Teresa (Chris) Agresto, Trista Bentler, and close friends Rick Goenner and Gary & Deb Stevenson.Dares Funeral Service763-441-1212 daresfuneralservice.com
