Baehman, Gerald C.Gerald C. Baehman, 88, Wausau, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8, 2017.He was born on July 30, 1929 in Greenville, son of the late Clarence and Dora (Timm) Baehman. He graduated from New London High School. Gerald was honored to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He earned the Combat Infantry Badge and three Bronze Stars. After attending Cosmetology school in Milwaukee, he married Joanne Johnson in 1958. They moved to Wausau where they opened Baehman's Beauty Salon and in 1967, they opened the State College of Beauty Culture. Some of his hobbies included skiing, golfing, curling, hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was a member of the Wausau Chamber of Commerce, president of Salem Lutheran Church, president of the Wisconsin Association of Cosmetology Schools, charter member of the Morning Optimists and past president of the Algernon C. Swinburne Literary Society.Survivors include his wife, Joanne of Wausau; sons, Jack (Stacy) Baehman of Hudson and John Baehman of Ringwood, Illinois; grandchildren, Kent (Amber) Baehman, Kate Baehman and Claire Baehman; brother, Claire Baehman of Wausau, many dear nieces and nephews.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Ciri Baehman.One of Gerald's treasured experiences was going on the Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2012. Memorials may be directed to the Never Forgotten Honor Flight, P.O. Box 5056, Wausau, WI 54402-5056.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2017 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 930 Edgewood Road, Wausau. Rev. Richard Block will officiate.
