Walter, Gerald E.Gerald E. Walter, age 79, of Sixth Street in Corning, NY died Saturday, October 14, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born on September 24, 1938 in Corning to Louis and Loretta (Geysler) Walter. He married Joyce Bloise on December 22, 1956 in Corning. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959 and worked for Corning Incorporated for 41 years.Jerry enjoyed hunting pheasants, rabbit and deer. He enjoyed raising German Shorthair Pointers and Beagles. Jerry loved his grandchildren and all children. He is survived by his wife Joyce; daughters, Brenda (Bob) Farr of Corning, Kathy (Mark) Jones of Painted Post, and Penny Kio of Corning; son, Louis (Debra) Walter of Painted Post; ten grandchildren: Christine Cook, Renee Windows, Nicole Cook, Eric Walter, Arin Walter, Alin Walter, Randy Jones, Jessica Evans, Veronica LaDieu, Amanda Kio; seventeen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Gerald was predeceased by his brother, Joe Walter; and two sisters, Rita Maynard and Betty Hapman.Calling hours will be held on Friday October 20th from 4 until 6 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM with Reverend Lonny DeWalt officiating.
